The Vintage Airstream is Miette’s mostly restored vintage trailer and she is graciously letting her whole family use it. Miette was able to do a “Make A Wish” and ended up wishing for an Airstream. Here is some more information about that day. Miette’s Wish Coordinator volunteer, Susie Maxwell, went above and beyond to make this one happen. That’s a whole story that we’ll post about later. But for right now, check out the Airstream which has been named the “Silver Eagle” by Miette!
To read about our Airstream travels, start here!
For all you Airstream fans, its a vintage 31′ 1972 Airstream International Sovereign Land Yacht. It has a rear bath, a large custom made dining table with bench seating in the front. The kitchen bar was reconfigured and rebuilt, two sets of bunk beds were built to accommodate all of the family. New laminate flooring was put in, a new toilet, a new Atwood fridge, a new Atwood power tongue jack, an AC water heater, a new air conditioner, some PEX piping and some new blinds, draperies and bedding. There are also two new 10 gallon propane tanks and Miette was subscribed to the Wally Bynum club.
We are pulling the Airstream with a 2009 GMC Sierra 2500HD crew cab with the stock Duramax 6.6 and Allison Transmission setup. We are connected with an EZ Lift weight distribution and sway bar provided by Make-A-Wish. We have rigged up a backup camera on the back license plate of the truck for hitching up and also have a rear view camera on the back of the Airstream.
